Anxhela Bruçi – University of York – EmpowerFULL

Anxhela Bruçi

Anxhela studied for her masters at the University of York and enjoyed walk in the York Shambles before she founded EmpowerFULL after graduating.

EmpowerFULL is a socio-economic model for human-trafficking survivors. The organisation focuses on reintegrating the survivors through the perspective of personal development.

Anxhela believes that many programs of economic empowerment do not use approaches centred around the survivors and instead use short term initiatives.

Survivors of human-trafficking have increased chances of living in poverty due to low education levels and discrimination in the labour market, leading to isolation and unemployment. EmpowerFULL aims to change this and promote the survivors as entrepreneurs.

Kate Nash – University of York – Kate Nash Literary Agency

kate nash

Kate’s love of literature started at a young age leading her to want to become an author. She got a job at a second hand book shop and read through everything available in the library as a teen.

She then started a communications business which provided her with the chance to work with authors and publishers, also organising a book award. She felt as though in her thirties she would be unable to start a publishing agency even though this what she really wanted to do, until she heard of Carol Blake.

Carol Blake inspired her and she decided to set up her own company. Kate Nash Literary Agency was born in 2009. Since then, the company has established itself as an independent literary agency specialising in both fiction and non-fiction based in Oxford.
