University of Liverpool graduate Matt Latham created a Liverpool-based app to encourage investors to have a more positive impact on the planet whilst helping companies at the same time. The company is chaired by co-founder of popular online bank Monzo and is constantly growing in popularity.

Originally referred to as Tickr, the app is now known as CIRCA5000. The company has launched a crowdfunding campaign to give clients the opportunity to own shares in the up and coming company with some of “the industry’s top investors”. The business also secured a £2.5 million investment from a venture capitalist firm last February and the company have also received support from Ada Ventures in London.

Tom McGillycuddy, co-founder of CIRCA5000, said: “What we really care about is building products that help people secure a better future for themselves, the planet, and humanity as a whole. That’s why we’re excited to announce a brand change that clearly reflects this. We want to make sure our planet and the people who live there can see it beyond 5000.

Peter Giles – Motel Rocks

motel

Peter Giles created his company Motel Rocks after graduating from the University of Liverpool. The business was inspired by a passion for vintage fashion and is targeted at young women who want an edgier look.

The company was established in the late 1990s after Peter and the other founders had been a road trip along the West coast of America. They felt inspired by the vintage shops and thrift stores in California and wanted to bring their ideas to the British market. They felt there was a unique niche in the market for their company and are now an established, leading Brit fashion label. They are renowned for offering form fitting outfits with unique prints which are frequently advertised on social media platforms.

New styles are offered on the site every week, with there being no physical stores in the United Kingdom at present. The website also offers accessories and hand picked beauty brands which can be added to the fits from Motel. They frequently offer exclusive products alongside trend advice and behind the scenes information from the brand and the team themselves.
