Meet Dominik Angerer, CEO and Co-Founder at Headless Content Management System: Storyblok

Storyblok is an enterprise CMS for developers and marketers to deliver content experiences on any digital platform. It is the world’s first headless CMS really built for both developers and marketers.

Storyblok enables content to be accessible via an API for display on any device and channel, and makes use of a visual editor to preview changes in real-time. In short, users can publish and repurpose their content across multiple channels with minimal effort, without risk of publishing outdated or duplicate content and can rest assured it will be displayed in the best way for each given channel as they are in full control of that layer.

Storyblok works for companies of any size – however it is particularly useful for large enterprises with multiple communication channels. Our clients include Wüsthof, Deliveroo, UPC, Greggs, and Marc O’Polo and tens of thousands of solo developers.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?

My co-founder Alexander Feiglstorfer and I were both working for an agency where we saw first-hand how many companies struggled with getting their marketing and IT to work well together. Technology solutions seemed able to only help one group at the expense of the other. This naturally led to frustration and a lot of time and money wasted.

When we learned that the enterprise CMS we worked with at that time had discontinued their services and a replacement was needed, we quickly realised that there was a huge gap in the market to develop something that was technologically advanced but could be used easily by marketers.

This is the problem we solved with Storyblok – it is one of the most technologically advanced CMS solutions on the market but also the most user friendly. As a result, businesses save a lot of time, money and effort because they can manage all their communication channels in the most efficient way without the need to train a team of highly technical users.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?

We have experienced amazing growth. Starting with a handful of small clients in 2019 we grew to power more than 110,000 projects across 130 countries and recorded a six fold increase in enterprise client growth in 2020. In 2021 we even grew our team from 24 to now 150 people. We now work with some of the world’s largest companies on a huge range of projects.

Because we have always been remote our team is now present in scores of countries across the world.

What can we hope to see from Storyblok in the future?

Without giving too much away we should see a big update in our platform with a range of new solutions that the market has never seen before – it could be a game changer for our industry. Our intention is to roll this out across Europe and then international markets.

The goal for Storyblok is to become the world’s biggest enterprise CMS. This may sound crazy, but we’re right on track and I think it’s important to be as ambitious as possible for your team and your company. Aiming high means that you are constantly pushing yourself to be better.

For me, the most exciting aspect of this goal is the journey. How we get there, what we build and who we work with and for, is going to make the next few years incredible.
