“International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate our achievements but also to ask, “What we can do as leaders to advance gender diversity in the tech industry?”

“We must strive harder to bring more women into the tech world by democratising access to technology education. Then we all can benefit from the richness of ideas, skills, and perspectives that can only truly come from a diversely populated industry.”

“COVID-19 has had a massive impact on women and work, with the job of looking after children at home often falling on women across all industries. But the use of digital technologies has accelerated during the pandemic and tech roles are going to be more in demand. As such, we must make sure we invite more women in, so as the tech industry expands, so does the representation of women (or else the delta will just get bigger).”

“To that end, I’m thrilled that Xero was in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for the second year and I’m very proud to have a product leadership team that’s 50% female. Gender diversity is not only a women’s issue – it’s a human issue.”

“We’ve created programs at Xero on unconscious bias and ally training for hiring managers to better support diversity. I truly believe a balanced and representative workforce is critical to solving problems with technology, such as helping women feel safer at night, solving mental health issues, or bringing people out of poverty and connecting them to meaningful work.”

“The possibilities are endless, but without equal participation, the problems we solve are only ever going to help a small portion of the community. It’s time to make sure women in tech have a seat at the table and a voice in the decisions being made.”
