Meet Boris Lokschin, Co-founder and CEO at E-Commerce Solutions Company: Spryker

Boris Lokschin

Spryker is the fastest-growing digital commerce technology vendor in the world. As a fully remote company, our team members work from over 40 countries worldwide and counting.

We have operations in the UK, BeNeLux, US and APAC. Our main product (Spryker Cloud Commerce OS) enables companies to create commerce experiences in environments that are far more complex than classic B2C retail eCommerce set ups. Our vision is to enable sophisticated transactional business models – beyond retail, desktop and shop.

We’re talking about industries and verticals such as manufacturing, services, food, education, pharma and many more but primarily in B2B, Enterprise Marketplaces, Unified Commerce or IoT. Ultimately, we want to deliver the potential of digital commerce far beyond today’s status quo.

Through Spryker, we deliver the most modern, cloud-native platform-as-a-service commerce solution. It covers B2B, enterprise marketplace, unified commerce and B2C use cases out of one stack and ensures the shortest time-to-value. This allows for maximum differentiation and faster ROI in a world that has moved towards trial-and-error as the ultimate best practise, MVP approaches and agility.

It’s completely composable with over 50 API-based cloud-enabled packaged business capabilities. We’ve empowered more than 150 companies to manage transactions in over 200 countries worldwide and we count huge brands such as Toyota, ALDI, Siemens and Ricoh among our customers.

Why did you decide to set up your own company?

I always wanted to be my own boss. In fact, my grandmother often recounts her memory of me as a ten-year-old boy stating exactly that. I started my first business two decades ago at 19 and forged my own path as an entrepreneur. Spryker is my third self-founded commerce technology company after having successfully built and sold two businesses before.

How has the company evolved during the pandemic?

After our successful market entry into BeNeLux, we were already planning to expand into the US, UK, MENA and Nordics before the pandemic hit. The US in particular is a key market for us. Initially, we wanted an office in NYC and envisioned many of our management team moving there. However, COVID-19 changed our approach, having the NYC office isn’t fundamental to our plans as we became a remote-first company in the meanwhile. So far, having a dispersed team is working well!

Product-wise, we brought the launch of our Unified Commerce capabilities forward as many brands, manufacturers and retail customers asked us for sophisticated BOPIS, Click&Collect or curbside pickup coverage. In addition, we focused on our Enterprise Marketplace and B2B capabilities to provide maximum business model coverage out of one stack. For our customers, this decreases cost and the need to buy multiple products or technology stacks and achieves faster time-to-value. This has already proven successful for our customers such as Toyota, Siemens or GLOBUS where solutions have been rolled out in a couple of weeks instead of months.

What can we hope to see from Spryker in the future?

Spryker is already the fastest-growing enterprise commerce software company worldwide. We’re building the next global category leader and will continue with our global expansion plans with the backing of our US investor TCV (AirBnB, Netflix), who invested $130 million in Series C funding at the end of last year. As well as expanding our global footprint, we’re focused on further developing our product portfolio and solving even more of the challenges our customers face.
