What were the origins of the company?
SOTI was founded in 1995, driven by the desire to help businesses take mobility to endless possibilities. With a sharp focus and commitment to research and development, we are a market leader in delivering exciting, new business mobility solutions. Through building strong partnerships with leading mobile platform providers and device manufacturers we have produced essential insight into new technology and industry trends before they even happen.

Our first product, SOTI Pocket Controller, became an international bestseller and later evolved into SOTI MobiControl, the company’s flagship Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution.

How has the company evolved during the pandemic?
We navigated the uncertain times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic with a commitment to our employees, partners and customers which remains unchanged as the market and economic situation evolves. To mitigate the impact of the pandemic, we developed a resiliency framework to help continue providing a stable business and technical environment. Each of our departments went through preparation measures to address critical activity.
We have retained and will continue this operational resilience, designed to maintain the high levels of customer service and support we provide to all our customers and partners. With mobile technology becoming important in keeping us both connected and socially distanced during the pandemic, SOTI’s solutions were in more demand than ever, both at a macro and micro level.
For example, SOTI MobiControl was integral to the Lifelines4LovedOnes initiative, which supplied refurbished tablets and smartphones to the National Health Service (NHS) and care home patients, helping them stay connected with their family and friends through video calling. SOTI was also able to help Innserve’s team of field engineers remain connected and on the road to support the hospitality industry through the incredibly tough time it faced during the pandemic.
What can we hope to see from SOTI in the future?
This year is shaping up to be an exciting one as new mobile technologies emerge to help the world navigate this new normal, and SOTI is here to help. SOTI will also continue working in partnership with local universities and colleges to inspire the next generation of thinkers, builders and entrepreneurs.
SOTI is focused on the development and adoption of mobile technology that has drastically accelerated over the past few years such as digitisation, geofencing, diagnostic intelligence and IoT management. As organisations are increasing their expenditure on mobile devices and systems over the next 12 months, we will assist by helping to integrate these technologies smoothly into workflows, employee practices and the customer experience.
Our work will be especially important in the face of the international chip shortage as organisations seek to prolong the life of ageing devices and do more with either fewer new pieces of equipment or off the shelf devices that might need customisation to fit.
In November 2020 we also launched a new aerospace division, SOTI Aerospace, which focuses on advanced aerial drone and robotics research.
We look forward to ramping this up in 2022. Working with industry-leading researchers, scientists, engineers and academia from around the world, the new division is focusing its research on vision systems for indoor environments, including self-learning, situational understanding, automatic location of people and objects, self-navigation and smart avoidance. Initial applications are focused on the medical sector and search and rescue operations.
