Poll Reveals 3/4 Happy to Share Data IF Assured of Its Safe Use

Sharing data about ourselves has become commonplace during the pandemic. And now a new poll indicates people are becoming more open to the idea of continuing to pass it on, if businesses can use it to make their lives easier.

According to a survey conducted by TUBR, more than 80% of those polled say they would happily continue sharing data if the benefits of doing so were clearly demonstrated. The London-based travel app, which collects passenger data to help train-users plan crowd-free journeys, also found people’s confidence in data-sharing had been boosted by a relatively small number of data breaches.

Commenting on the poll’s findings Dash Tabor, the co-founder of TUBR said: “As a society we’re all very aware of how important data is to our daily lives, but few understand the complexities around making data work for us. On top of that there are a lot of misconceptions around what data can be used for, how personal it is or can be to our lives and the problems it can solve. At TUBR we’re just as passionate about solving everyday problems, like crowding on public transportation, which making people’s lives easier as we are about educating and being transparent about the data we use and have access too.”

TUBR’s poll comes six months after another study which indicated the public were now less averse to sharing data. The study showed that the figure jumped from 14 per cent pre pandemic to 61 per cent. The research was carried out by PRIVATT as part an assessment into attitudes to privacy in times of Covid-19.
