About OmniIndex

OmniIndex was launched in 2020 with a mission to give users back control of their data, believing that they, and only they, should be able to see and use it. Since then, we have transformed how businesses utilise their most confidential content through a practical yet powerful application of blockchain technology.

This has been done not by forcing a Web3 revolution, but by cherry-picking the best of blockchain’s security features and packaging it into a platform that feels as familiar as possible for users. This was essential, because an early hurdle we faced was a corporate hesitancy towards adopting emerging technologies like blockchain, perceiving it as unproven for enterprise demands and too disruptive a migration. To overcome this, we forked PostgreSQL, the world’s leading open source relational database, into an immutable, decentralised blockchain platform to provide an inherently secure and tamper-proof data solution based on a foundation users know and trust. Including its scalability, connectivity and functionality.

The result was our inoculated database: PGBC. A blockchain data platform that provides immutable and decentralised storage and has a native private AI engine built in enabling fully encrypted data to be searched and analysed in real-time. There is no third-party access, and it can easily connect to all leading tools to enable an efficient and seamless workflow. In short, a private, corporate, database that delivers the defining principle of Web3: user control.

We have not done this for reasons of philosophy, however, but to solve one of the biggest threats facing data today: ransomware. This is because as data is immutable, it cannot be overwritten by an attacker’s own encryption key. What’s more, that data is replicated in at least two other nodes in the blockchain, meaning that users can continue working with zero recovery time and zero loss of data even if that first node has been compromised. Finally, because data remains encrypted at all times thanks to our patented homomorphic encryption, it is never exposed or made vulnerable. Not even while being searched or analyzed.

PGBC is being used today by organisations in highly regulated sectors. For example, in Nigeria Future-X is using it to ensure integrity and security for critical student records, combating data tampering while enabling encrypted analysis for better learning outcomes. Meanwhile, Uniq Health implements PGBC as the database for its health app, securing sensitive customer information and enabling predictive AI insights from encrypted gut microbiome data. Furthermore, PostgresBC for Google Cloud demonstrates our seamless integration with major cloud platforms, allowing enterprises to confidently adopt secure blockchain storage within existing workflows, retaining full data ownership and control. This partnership, along with others including Oracle and Confluent, underscore our commitment to making blockchain accessible while ensuring users always retain uncompromisable control.

OmniIndex provides the essential blockchain bridge: ensuring unparalleled security and absolute user control to enable users to get insights from previously restricted regulated data, while also ensuring stability without the cost of a complex or risky migration.
