At Samsung’s latest IFA 2024 event, the company introduced different sets of updates that completely change the way we will interact with our kitchens. Samsung Australia stated in a news release, “Since its debut at IFA last year, Samsung Food has garnered over six million users, becoming an essential tool for meal planning and cooking in the modern home. The platform’s most popular features include Recipe functions, Shopping List, and Meal Planner.”
One feature that really stands out is the Vision AI tech, which allows users to add food items to their “food list’ by simply taking a phone on smartphones. For those looking for a premium version of Samsung Food, Samsung Food+ brings more features for a more personalised kitchen experience.
With Vision AI Technology, users can automatically update their Food List by taking photos of ingredients with their smartphone. Other features include personalised meal plans, recipes, health and wellness tracking, and an ad-free experience for uninterrupted use.
What Does The Food List Do?
The “Food List” in Samsung Food is a feature within the app where users can add and keep track of their grocery items. Essentially, the Food List acts as a digital pantry, that helps with the organisation of groceries, as well as meal planning. This is what it can do:
Adding Items- users can manually add items to the list or use the app’s Vision AI technology to take photos of groceries, which the app then automatically identifies and adds to the list.

Integration with Appliances- those who have compatible Samsung appliances like the Family Hub™ refrigerator, the items added can be displayed and managed directly from the fridge’s screen.
Recipe Suggestions- the app uses the items in your Food List to suggest recipes. This helps in planning meals based on what ingredients are in the kitchen, reducing food waste and making meal preparation more efficient.
Shopping and Inventory Management- when groceries are bought, the app can automatically update your Food List upon check out, either in-store or online. It also helps with keeping track of what is available, what is needed, and when items are nearing their expiry date.
