Research shows that over 850,000 people in the UK have dementia, and with people living longer, this number is only increasing – with it estimated that over 1 million people in the UK will have this syndrome by 2025.

This growing ageing population needs technologies and services to help improve their quality of life, which is where our Startup of the Week CogniHealth comes in.

Founded in 2017 by Pooja Jain, Pranav Shakti Chauhan and Giulia Melchiorre, the idea for CogniHealth came about after Pooja’s realisation that families were often struggling to find the right support for dementia carers post-diagnosis. After finding a gap in the market for holistic and personalised dementia carer support, CogniHealth’s app CogniCare was created.

CogniCare is a digital companion, helping to support dementia carers. Through digital technology and machine learning, the app aims to reduce the physical, psychological, and financial burden of dementia, providing the following key benefits:

CogniHealth are on a mission to transform the way carers take care of those with dementia, stating that:

“People with dementia and carers are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that an insightful understanding of dementia can help create a world where people are free from the fear and heartbreak it brings.”
