What is BlockTexx?
BlockTexx is a textile recycling company that is on a mission to change the clothing industry. The company aims to stop textiles and clothing from going into landfill by converting them into new, usable products.
Founded by Graham Ross and Adrian Jones, BlockTexx has created a S.O.F.T.™ (Separation of Fibre Technology) process that takes hard-to-recycle polyester and cotton blends and turns them into new, high-quality materials. The process is so successful that it has a recovery of around 95%.
Their commercial-grade facility has the capacity to take in 4,000 tonnes every year, re-manufacturing textile waste into new products like clothes, packaging and agriculture.
What Makes BlockTexx Unique?
BlockTexx stands out for its innovative technology and 360 approach textile recycling.
The company’s S.O.F.T.™ (Separation of Fibre Technology) process is unique to them, developed to recycle on a commercial scale. The process is unique because it is able to separate blended fabrics like polyester and cotton into new materials.
Historically, recycling blended materials has been very difficult, so a solution has not only been welcomed, but also celebrated by the industry.
The company then uses it to create 2 new products:
PolyTexx®: PolyTexx® can be used in textiles, construction and other structural building.
CellTexx®: CellTexx® which can be used in agriculture and other industries.
By managing the process from start to finish, BlockTexx is helping revolutionise the textiles industry and keep fabrics away from landfill.

Is There A Market For Textile Recycling?
Absolutely! The fashion industry globally produces up to 100 billion garments every year, creating a massive waste problem. In fact, 92 million tons of clothing end up in landfills each year – making it a huge environmental problem.
This figure is projected to rise to 140 million tons by 2030 if something drastic isn’t done.
Additionally, only 20% of the textiles that are wasted are currently reused or recycled globally. This leaves a huge gap for a company like BlockTexx to come in and shake up the industry.
Alongside this, as consumers become more environmentally aware, businesses are trying to make sure they are acting in the most sustainable way. The idea to break down textiles and create new products is smart, because it not only solves the waste issue, it also creates new commercial products for the company to sell.
As the world continues to be more environmentally conscious, the work of companies like BlockTexx is more important than ever.
