Airhive is a UK-based company specialising in Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, aiming to address climate change by removing carbon dioxide (CO₂) directly from the atmosphere. Founded in 2022, Airhive has rapidly advanced in developing scalable and cost-effective DAC solutions. Through Airhive’s unique technology, which utilises fluid bed systems, the company is able to successfully and consistently deliver industry-leading capture rates that pass through its DAC system.
Airhive has demonstrated 99% capture of CO₂ at lab scale. Removing carbon from our atmosphere is becoming increasingly more crucial as the drive for increased outputs from industry continues. Airhive’s DAC systems are effective and easily deployed to instantly start removing carbon from the air. Businesses can look to utilise this technology for their own gain or via carbon credits to support businesses that do have DAC capabilities and services.
Airhive has a pilot system in Teesside, UK and will launch its first commercial project this year in Canada, a DAC system capable of removing 1000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum. This will be the largest operational DAC system in the country.
It has managed to secure funding through a number of key businesses, including AP Ventures and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) to help bridge that ‘valley of death’ that many startups and scaleups fall into in the ClimateTech space.
Once fully operational, Airhive technology, deployed around the world, will see tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) removed from our atmosphere every single minute, hour and day.
