About Lushair
GENPULSE began its journey in 2023, when the founding team got accepted into an incubator in National University of Singapore. Fiona Bao launched the company under the name GENPULSE in Singapore, wishing to capture the consumption trend with artificial intelligence. Inspired by personal experiences with hair loss during university years studying bio-engineering, Bao set out to build an accessible and accurate solution for scalp and hair health using artificial intelligence and medical imaging.
Initial challenges included gathering enough high quality data to train the AI system. Through partnerships with National Skin Center in Singapore and over 200 salons across the globe, the team collected and annotated more than 30 000 medical scalp images. This effort ensured the algorithm achieved clinically valid performance across diverse cases.
GENPULSE launched its flagship product, Lushair, the Scalp Explorer device, in Singapore in April 2024. The hardware uses dual scan modes—a quick selfie scan and a dermatoscope scan—to assess sixteen scalp and hair metrics in approximately four seconds, including follicle density, oil balance, redness, damage state, white hair ratio, and vellus hair ratio. Within weeks, the solution attracted users across Asia‑Pacific and early orders from the United States, achieving rapid month‑over‑month growth and early revenue milestones.
Lushair has had a significant impact on the medtech and beauty tech space globally. Its AI‑driven scalp analysis platform is backed by collaborations with institutions such as Stanford Hospital in the US, National Skin Centre in Singapore and hundreds of medspas across the world. With over 100 000 scans completed and more than 20 000 users from 30+ countries, the platform is praised for accuracy, usability, and actionable insights with a user review rating of 4.9 out of five stars.
On the enterprise side, GENPULSE provides a SaaS platform and API services for beauty salons, retailers, and brands. These business tools enable white‑label deployment, hair analysis onsite, customer retention, and product recommendation services, helping modernize traditional salon workflows and improve client trust.
Plans are already underway to expand into additional Asia‑Pacific markets and North America, and to extend the technology beyond scalp diagnostics to include acne and eczema assessment tools. Participation at CES Las Vegas 2025 marks one major upcoming milestone.
In summary, GENPULSE was founded to democratize scalp and hair diagnostics by combining medical grade AI and user friendly hardware in one accessible solution. The company overcame significant data and technical hurdles to pioneer a new standard in beauty tech, launched a globally trusted product within months, and continues to broaden its reach by embedding dermatologically reliable AI into consumer and enterprise wellness routines.
