BfB Labs is reimagining mental healthcare for a new generation to make support personalised, fun, and available on children and young people’s terms. This means building solutions that are digital, self-guided and interactive. Its hero intervention, Lumi Nova, is a personalised digital therapeutic game designed to tackle childhood anxiety.
Lumi Nova was co-designed with children, parents, NHS clinicians, educators and mental health experts to act as a first-line treatment option to support anxiety in children. It is a MHRA-registered medical device, Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) approved by NHS England and recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
To date, 13,000+ children across the UK have accessed the Lumi Nova intervention via schools, community services, local authorities and the NHS. Overall, 84% of families who have accessed it said they would recommend the intervention to others after noting significant reductions in their child’s anxiety.
The team is led by CEO Manjul Rathee, an entrepreneur who prior to co-founding BfB Labs launched the UK’s first child-led campaign to tackle avoidable blindness.
