Pal is a digital health solution that is changing how serious illness is managed at home. Founded in 2022, the company has built a platform that makes early palliative care more accessible, proactive, and human. It helps patients and families get the support they need from the moment of diagnosis.
The idea for Pal began with co-founder Nara Moripen’s personal experience caring for her mum, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer in 2019. Nara saw firsthand how difficult it was to care for someone at home with little guidance, few tools, and limited clinical oversight. At the same time, the clinicians trying to help her mum were overstretched and working without visibility into what was actually happening between hospital visits.
Nara teamed up with co-founder Azi Doost to design a better solution. Together, they built Pal: a complete digital care solution for people with serious illnesses. The platform brings together a family-facing app, an AI-powered data engine that detects signs of risk and deterioration, and a clinician dashboard that offers real-time insight into how patients are doing at home.
Pal’s technology helps close the gap between hospital and home by using structured data and predictive models to identify problems earlier, reduce avoidable hospital visits, and offer more timely and personalised care.
Today, Pal supports thousands of families across the UK and works with leading hospitals and healthcare providers to deliver more holistic and responsive care to people living with serious illness.
