About RevenueCat
RevenueCat was founded by Jacob Eiting and Miguel Carranza Guisado in 2017 with a clear mission: to simplify subscription management for app developers and product teams.
Creating monetization systems like paywalls and subscriptions that convert free users into paying customers has historically required testing thousands of versions. And doing this experimentation has meant needing significant developer bandwidth to update the app, slowing down cycles by days or even weeks–creating significant bottlenecks to revenue creation.
With RevenueCat, app creators of all skill levels can easily build, test, launch and monetize their product. Through offerings like no-code paywall editors and remote configuration, the company has expanded beyond solely subscription management, allowing developers around the world to turn their hobby projects into revenue-generating businesses more efficiently than ever before.
Since launching, RevenueCat has surpassed Stripe as the preferred payments SDK for nearly 50% of all payment-accepting apps in the App Store. The company is now handling over 20% of all the money being made in app stores by subscription apps, processing over a billion USD per month from the apps that build on their platform. This is 10x the $100M per month tracked revenue that RevenueCat was making just three years ago.
Now, as the use of AI in coding becomes more prevalent, RevenueCat is also introducing capabilities to enable developers to automate their monetization even further with the introduction of its own MCP server. Developers can automatically connect with their preferred AI assistant, whether it be ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity, from within the RevenueCat platform. Using simple natural language prompts such as Create a premium monthly subscription for my iOS app or Set up an entitlement called premium_features, subscription infrastructures are configured instantly without having to switch between platforms.
The app market is constantly shifting, as is consumer sentiment, making revenue generation an ongoing strategic exercise. In addition to giving developers the technical tools to make money, RevenueCat is also bringing the app community together to connect and share ideas for how best to monetize. This year, the company brought to New York City the first ever citywide App Week dedicated to subscription app growth and held a “vibe coding” popup in the historic Grand Central Terminal. Globally, RevenueCat also hosted vibe coding popups in other key markets including Paris and Tokyo.
