About Altura
Founded in the Netherlands in 2021, Altura provides an AI-powered automation platform to help companies win complex private and public sector tenders and request for proposals (RFPs).
This is a big deal. Our customers are B2B companies in sectors such as construction, IT and consultancy services, where bidding on tenders and RFPs is the main route to winning business. For those selling into the public sector, it is the only way.
Each year, billions of pounds worth of contracts are awarded through tenders. UK public procurement alone is worth £395B – for the EU it is €2.5 trillion.
The problems we solve
CEO Matthijs Huiskamp and COO Jordi van der Hek founded Altura after Matthijs saw a client in a previous company struggling with complex manual bidding processes, repetitive, error-prone tasks, and collaboration bottlenecks. He realised that companies were sitting on a wealth of unused bidding data.
The two founders created Altura to streamline and automate routine work, simplify collaboration and use AI to optimise decisions and increase tender win rates based on contextual data.
What our technology does
Our software supports every stage of the bid management lifecycle, centralising knowledge and streamlining workflows. AI tools powered by LLMs assist with tasks such as searching internal data, summarising complex information and generating high-quality proposal content.
Beyond providing writing support, the software automates time-consuming tasks like identifying and scraping relevant tenders from across the web, surfacing insights to guide bid/no-bid decisions, and analysing performance to improve future outcomes. Our AI agents can learn from interactions with subject matter experts in companies and draw on this knowledge to draft answers, flag risks and surface win-loss insights. The agents free bid teams from manual effort, to focus on strategy.
Challenges
As a frontrunner in this space, one of our biggest challenges has been building an entirely new category — since much of what we do was previously managed manually in Excel or SharePoint. From the start, we have focused on market education: what can this new generation of software do and why it matters?
Rather than simply promoting our product, we have prioritised providing value through a series of highly popular events and webinars, bringing in industry influencers to help bid professionals tackle their main challenges. Our first in-person lunchtime event in London was oversubscribed, attracting 100+ attendees. Our major Autumn Edition conference in Amsterdam drew a packed audience of 150+.
Industry impact
Since launching in 2021, Altura has expanded rapidly across Europe. This year, we added a new London office and grew our presence in Germany by acquiring Berlin-based competitor Tendara.
To date, 150+ companies have used our software, generating 100+ bids daily. On average the software allows customers to create bids 3.2x faster and has enabled bid teams to save €82,2M in costs
Benefits delivered to specific customers include:
● GMB increased win-rate by 50%
● DAAN achieved a 95% saving in document analysis
● Heyday achieved 3x faster tender processing
● Aethon saved 17 hours per month on scanning past proposals
