About Mikela Druckman

Mikela has created an entirely new category in circularity technology with the development of “waste intelligence” – using AI to reveal the true post-consumption journey of resources, and measurably increase global recycling rates.

Mikela is the CEO and co-founder at Greyparrot, the world’s leading waste intelligence provider. Under Mikela’s leadership, Greyparrot has been named one of *Fast Company’s* Most Innovative Companies, with its technology selected as one of *TIME’s* Best Inventions for 2025.

Combining expertise in scaling AI computer vision systems with a personal passion for sustainability, Mikela and her co-founders created Greyparrot to reverse the mounting waste crisis with data. Since launching in 2019, Greyparrot has launched industry-first technologies that are accelerating circular action amongst the world’s largest recyclers, brands, retailers and packaging producers.

Mikela has been instrumental in the digitisation of the global waste sector, applying AI to an industry that has traditionally relied on manual analysis to improve processes and track materials. Drawing from her background as COO of Blippar – one of the UK’s first tech unicorns – she led the effort to scale adoption of AI amongst waste sector leaders, working closely with facility staff to shape Greyparrot’s technology to the specific data gaps preventing recovery.

In just seven years, she has overseen adoption in more than 20 countries, with Greyparrot’s Analyzer system helping more than 65 recovery facilities detect and recover waste that would otherwise go on to pollute the natural environment. Her fundraising efforts have drawn over $35 million in investment since 2019, and her work to cultivate high-leverage partnerships led to strategic relationships with Bollegraaf and Van Dyk Recycling Solutions. As two of the world’s largest builders of recovery facilities, they are now shaping the next generation of recycling infrastructure around Greyparrot AI.

In 2025 alone, Greyparrot’s systems detected more than 52 billion waste objects, representing one of the first-ever large-scale datasets on post-consumption resources. With Mikela at the helm, Greyparrot developed the world’s first packaging waste intelligence platform, using that detailed data to help major brands and retailers track their packaging beyond the bin, and make data-driven, circular design improvements. Unilever, L’Oréal, Asahi, Amcor Group and more have all used this first-of-a-kind technology to assess their products’ performance in real waste systems.

Greyparrot’s impact has been recognised within the waste sector, and far beyond. Mikela has led Greyparrot to three consecutive National Recycling Awards, three consecutive years on the Global CleanTech 100 list, and the Sifted 100 leaderboard.

Mikela also champions inclusive and sustainable leadership. As a CEO committed to integrity and change, she frequently addresses issues of gender bias and supports fellow women entrepreneurs through mentorship. She has spoken publicly about raising Series A funding while pregnant, and was named the UKBAA’s High Growth Woman Founder of the Year.

Her entrepreneurial journey and commitment to climate technology innovation have been acknowledged with awards like the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) Technology Pioneer.
