About Anna Moynihan

I’m co-founder of TaskHer, a marketplace connecting homeowners and organisations with verified tradeswomen. We launched TaskHer in 2022 off the back of personal experience. Whilst being the main point of contact, tradesmen would enter my home and automatically direct questions to my husband, Paul (my now co-founder). At the same time, I was repeatedly struggling to book trades through online directories. Quotes drifted, timings were unclear, and I was left doing all the chasing.

That firsthand experience of gender bias made us look more closely at the industry. We found that women in the trades are consistently under represented, underpaid, and face unnecessary barriers to progress. I don’t come from a construction background, so the early days were a steep learning curve. We spent time speaking directly to tradeswomen and customers to understand what was broken and what needed to change. One of the biggest challenges was overcoming assumptions on both sides.

Since launch, TaskHer has completed thousands of jobs across London and built a community of over 800+ skilled tradeswomen, including plumbers, electricians, heating engineers and decorators. We support homeowners as well as housing providers and support organisations that need dependable and respectful maintenance services.
The impact is measurable. Tradeswomen using TaskHer earn significantly more than local female averages and report greater professional respect with the customers who book them through us. Customers love that they now have the choice to choose a tradeswoman. TaskHer is helping shift perceptions about who belongs in the trades and shown that supporting women into skilled roles also helps address critical labour shortages.

Building a startup alongside raising young children and securing early stage funding has been…challenging…but it has strengthened my focus. Our aim is to continue build a commercially strong platform that improves trade services and proves that inclusive businesses can scale.
