About ELO House (elotech)
ELOTECH is a sports technology startup focused on digitising grassroots cricket records and transforming handwritten scorebooks into structured digital data with the “Cricketess” app.
The project began development in 2025 with the goal of preserving cricket history recorded in club scorebooks aimed mainly in developing talent tracking in girls/women’s cricket and 2 little girls who enjoyed backyard cricket and jotted down the scores, Hence, “Cricket princess”. Across the cricket world millions of matches have been documented in paper scorebooks stored by local clubs schools and leagues. These records contain decades of player performances match results and local cricket heritage but most of the information is not searchable and is at risk of being lost over time even worse brilliant talent slipping through selectors hands.
Cricketess addresses this challenge by developing a system that converts scanned scorebook pages into structured cricket statistics using optical character recognition and data processing technology. The platform identifies player names, runs, wickets, overs and other match details and converts them into digital player records and statistical summaries.
One of the main challenges has been building a system capable of understanding the wide variety of scorebook formats used by clubs, handwriting styles, scoring symbols ,coloured pens and abbreviations depending on region and tradition. The development process has focused on creating flexible data recognition methods that can adapt to these variations while maintaining reliable statistical output.
Another challenge has been designing a workflow that is simple enough for community cricket clubs to adopt without requiring technical expertise. The goal is to make historical scorebook digitisation accessible to clubs that may only have paper records of their past seasons and also bring in current clubs to remain in the familiar format but go digital not learn a new system of scoring.
As a professional Coach the impact of Cricketess is the preservation and modernisation of cricket data at the grassroots level is vital.
By converting historical scorebooks into digital datasets clubs gain the ability to track player careers, analyse long term performance trends and build searchable archives of local cricket history.
Cricketess aims to provide grassroots cricket with data infrastructure similar to what exists in professional sport. The long term vision is to connect historical match archives, stats, coaching tips with modern sports analytics tools, cricket gear shop, and create a global digital record of community cricket right beside the wonderful cricket pitch in the moment.
