Google just made it official. Reddit posts and forum threads can now appear in AI search results under a label that says ‘Expert Advice’ – and that changes something important for every founder currently investing in content.

According to The Verge, Google has updated its AI Mode and AI Overviews to include a new module that surfaces content from Reddit threads, social media posts, niche forums and independent blogs, labelled in search results as “Expert Advice” or “Community Perspectives” depending on the query.

The update includes the creator’s name, handle or community name alongside each snippet so users can assess credibility at a glance. This is a visible product change with a label users can see, not a quiet algorithmic adjustment.

The new module runs in AI Mode and AI Overviews and pulls firsthand, experience-led content from public online discussions. Google’s positioning, according to its own materials, is that it’s responding to how people now search for peer advice and lived-experience perspectives rather than polished institutional articles. Not every AI Overview will display an “Expert Advice” block – Google has indicated the heading varies by context.
