About Clarity
In 2012, Clarity started with no investors, a modest bank loan and a bet that technology companies deserved PR people who could keep up with them. Former journalists and senior PR specialists won early work with brands such as SoundCloud, what3words and TransferWise, and within three years PRWeek named Clarity the fastest-growing agency in its Top 150.
Clarity worked hard to grow beyond London, expanding through strategic acquisitions that brought together specialist teams across Amsterdam, New York and Sydney. These included leading public affairs agency Political Intelligence UK and long-established corporate communications firm Sefiani Communications Group.
In 2024, Rachel Gilley was appointed the new CEO of Clarity, having joined as UK Managing Director in 2019. She took the helm at a pivotal moment for the industry, as AI began changing how people find and judge brands, putting the traditional press coverage model under pressure.
Rather than defend the old model, Clarity rebuilt. It is now a global growth consultancy offering senior counsel for clients navigating high-stakes growth moments, with account teams measured on the outcomes clients care about across brand, demand and reputation, including AI search visibility. Alongside a new Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) service, the team built proprietary software, Surfacd, which measures AI visibility and shows clients how LLMs discuss their brand. For monday.com, this approach drove a 300% increase in citations across LLM platforms, strengthening its presence where future customers ask questions.
In healthtech, for example, getting a digital health product into the NHS means navigating strict regulations, meeting demanding evidence standards and winning over complex buying groups, so press coverage alone is not enough. Clarity combines PR with public affairs and policy communications to help proven technology reach patients.
One example is Juniper, a digital weight loss and coaching service. Clarity combined media and public affairs to build trust for GLP-1 jabs, growing its share of voice from 6% to 49% in six months and securing 87 pieces of coverage, 60 of them in tier one media. Juniper credits the work with helping deliver its most successful quarter to date. Clarity also runs the Health Tech Alliance, giving innovators a unified voice with the NHS and policymakers.
Importantly, Clarity wants PR itself to look different too. In an industry where women still thin out at the top, its global team is 62% female and its leadership team and board are split evenly by gender. It backs this with dedicated transition at work and menopause policies, enhanced parental leave and leave to care for dependants.
What started as one London office with no outside investment is now a global consultancy, and proof that an independent agency can change leaders, reinvent itself for the AI era and still open doors for the people who will lead PR next.
