About Cyberfort

When did Cyberfort start, and what is the company background?

Cyberfort was established in 2017 with Palatine Private Equity backing and a clear plan: to build a single provider of end-to-end cyber security services for organisations with complex IT environments. We launched penetration testing in early 2018, added a security consultancy in June 2018 and an assurance and monitoring specialist in 2019. In 2024 we brought these businesses together as one unified Cyberfort, and in April 2025 we acquired ZDL to scale our cyber security services further. Today a team of over 110 people delivers consultancy, protection, detection and response services to over 150 customers. Organisations who use our services have one accountable security partner, who is trusted in highly regulated sectors.

What challenges have you overcome?

Building an end-to-end cyber security services provider meant overcoming three challenges. First, earning trust quickly. We have been an NCSC-assured consultancy since April 2019, and we hold NCSC CHECK and CREST accreditation for penetration testing, alongside ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, PCI DSS and Cyber Essentials Plus. Second, integration. Bringing four separately built or acquired businesses together under one brand, one management system and one customer experience was a major undertaking, completed in 2024. Third, the sector skills shortage. We have tackled it through apprenticeship and graduate schemes, CyberFirst engagement and school outreach, so that your future security teams draw on a stronger talent pipeline. Each step has made us a more dependable partner for organisations that cannot afford gaps in protection.

What impact has the company had on the cyber security industry?

Cyberfort has helped raise the standard of assured security in the UK. As one of only 24 NCSC assured consultancies, we advise government, the wider public sector and critical national infrastructure organisations, and we hold the prerequisites to undertake GovAssure independent assurance reviews. Our penetration testing is delivered under NCSC CHECK and CREST accreditation, giving customers independent evidence of quality. We bring consultancy, managed detection and response, and incident response together under one certified management system, so your board receives joined-up resilience rather than a patchwork of suppliers. We also contribute to the wider community through membership of techUK, CREST and the NCSC Assured Consultancy community, and through active involvement with CiSP, BCS, CIISec and ISACA groups. We develop talent too, including professionals chartered through the UK Cyber Security Council. The result is an expert-led security partner organisations can evidence to regulators and customers.

What comes next for Cyberfort?

Cyberfort is scaling its cyber security services as part of an ambitious growth strategy, following the 2025 acquisition of ZDL. Our vision is to be an integral part of the UK cyber security ecosystem, giving businesses and government departments assured, highly skilled and reliable protection. Next, we will keep developing secure, cost-effective managed detection and response, adopt AI technologies in our customer management tools, and assess post-quantum cryptography to protect your most sensitive data for the long term. We will also keep investing in apprenticeships, graduate schemes and CyberFirst engagement, growing the specialists your organisation needs.
