About coc00n
coc00n is a personal cybersecurity service for high-value individuals and their families. We work with business owners, journalists, sports stars and other people in the public eye, as well as with the family offices, law firms and accountants who advise them.
We started coc00n in 2022. Businesses put a great deal into protecting their systems, but the people who run them are usually left to look after their own digital privacy, including phones, email and home technology. For someone with a public profile or who is high risk or high value, those personal devices can be the easiest way in.
We built the service around the person rather than the device. Each client has a named Cyber Concierge they can contact about anything from a suspicious message to travelling with their phone abroad. Alongside this, we offer a Cyber Exposure Review that shows what can be found about someone online, a Private Residence Review of the technology in their home, and support for children growing up online. Clients receive regular reviews that explain in plain English what we have blocked and what we have changed.
Our main challenge has been timing. Most people know they should think about their personal security, but it tends to stay on the back burner until something goes wrong, such as a hacked account or a home address appearing online. By then, the damage is much harder to undo. Much of our work is helping people act before that point, with a first step that asks very little of them.
