Thalamos was born out of a mission to make access to life-saving treatment simpler and safer for those experiencing a mental health crisis. No-one should have to wait for this support when in need. So we’re digitising the paper-based process currently used to arrange care for those sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Using our platform, mental health professionals can create, complete and securely share the key legal forms required to treat patients under the Act electronically.
The digital forms not only eliminate lengthy manual administration, but reduce the risk of error or forms going missing and speed up the process of administering acute care. By making it simpler and safer for those in crisis to access the support they need, we’re helping them join the road to recovery sooner.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?
After a close friend was sectioned, and faced severe delays to their treatment, my cousin Ross and I were determined to help make a change. We wanted to provide a quicker, easier route into acute mental health care, which would support patients to make a faster, and more reliable, recovery.
So we set about designing a digital platform that would enable mental health professionals to organise this care more quickly, reduce the risk of errors and provide powerful data to help further improve services.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
Since we began in 2018, we’ve partnered with seven mental health providers – spanning the NHS, emergency services and private practice – to give over 40,000 clinicians the tools to accelerate access to acute care.
We recently raised $1 million in seed funding, which will help us expand our team and product to support a growing number of providers, clinicians and patients throughout the UK.
What can we hope to see from Thalamos in the future?
Our aim is to ensure that every individual who experiences a mental health crisis is able to access the care they need. We continue to work alongside our fantastic partners to drive this mission by digitising key aspects of the Mental Health Act and speeding up the process of patient admission, treatment and discharge.
In the coming months, we’ll be partnering with even more providers in the UK to continue this work and deliver improvements for a rising number of patients. We can’t wait to get started.
