The property industry in the UK and around the world is one of the most tried and tested markets when it comes to safe investments. However, in recent years, a fundamental challenge in the industry has been that of portfolio owners and managers struggling to properly, efficiently and effectively manage what is likely to be a growing portfolio of properties and investments. Arthur Online Property Management Software though, is using innovative cloud-based technology to address the pressing issues of 21st Century property management, and they are growing fast.
We sat down with Marc Trup, CEO and Founder of Arthur Online to find out what makes this exciting company tick, their plans for the future and how their technology is transforming things for the better.
Who is Arthur Online?
Arthur Online is an award-winning platform that enables property managers to respond instantly and solve problems fast from anywhere in the world, be it with tenants, contractors, property owners or letting agents. It has helped thousands of property managers, like me, run their portfolios in the cheapest, most efficient way possible by using the full potential of new technology and cloud computing.
Why Property Management?
By the time Arthur Online was founded in 2012, I had already been in the property industry for almost 20 years, so starting Arthur Online seemed like a natural fit. My existing network was invaluable in helping the business get off the ground.
What Made you Start the Company in the First Place?
It was while I was running my own portfolio that I came up with the idea. I was amazed that that there were no property management tools that took advantage of powerful and readily available cloud technology, so I decided to create my own solution. After almost 3 years of building and testing, the platform was launched in late 2014.
In a Market as Crowded as the Property Market, How are you Forging your Own Path?
Our biggest vision for Arthur Online was to provide a management software which had full mobile functionality using dedicated apps. We’re very proud to have delivered this to our users, as well as a range of integrations with best-in-class third party providers like Xero, Quickbooks, Zoopla and RightMove. Together these have made Arthur Online the first one-stop-shop for property managers and all their stakeholders. Arthur Online was the first product available on the market to connect all parties and all tools on one platform.
Aside from its functionality, what sets Arthur Online apart is our amazing customer support. Our team are customer-facing and happy to engage with users. We have an online chat service, open six days a week.
By taking a more personal approach, we were able to explain directly how our product can help save time and money.
How do you Think Technology is Going to Further Change the Property Industry?
Many online property management tools remain either prohibitively expensive, unintegrated or have limited scope. The only option for technologically minded property managers is to combine several disconnected online tools to deal with the various parts of the property management value chain. The inability of these tools to communicate often leads to confusion, negating the efficiencies they are trying to create.
We believe that the future of prop-tech is interconnected solutions, with everything you need all in one place. Arthur Online is at the forefront of this movement. Our open API architecture allows clients to link Arthur Online with any number of technologies including Xero, Quickbooks, Zapier and many more. Our technology enables non-technical users to explore all the possible ways they can connect that were previously too expensive and technically challenging.
What Will be Your Biggest Challenges in the Coming Years?
I think the biggest challenge we will face within the next few years is continuing to innovate. Following a few years of implementing back-to-back integrations, we are currently trying to focus on refining what’s already on our software. However, we also recognise that there is a need to grow and expand on what services we offer to remain competitive. Since the technology sector is constantly evolving, the real difficulty is making sure we stay ahead of the curve. Luckily, with our open API, there’s always room to adapt our software to take advantage of the next big thing.
What Does the Future Hold for Arthur Online?
Our aim is to make Arthur Online the go-to platform for property management. We’re confident that our software is market beating. Our objective now is to keep getting our name out there so that we become a household name for property managers worldwide!
