About Cequence Security

Cequence Security was founded ten years ago in 2014 and is a pioneer of Application Programming Interface (API) security and bot management. It offers the only solution to deliver Unified API Protection (UAP) which unites discovery, compliance, and protection across all internal and external APIs to defend against attacks, targeted abuse, and fraud. Cequence’s flexible deployment model supports SaaS, on-premises, and hybrid installations, and APIs can be onboarded in less than 15 minutes without requiring any app instrumentation, SDK, or JavaScript integration.

Today’s digital ecosystem sees organisations rely upon APIs to power their businesses, manage their customers and fulfil service delivery. That dependency has also caught the attention of threat actors who have been quick to exploit APIs and leverage bots to automate attacks. Traditional approaches to prevention require multiple point solutions that are largely ineffective and difficult to manage.

Cequence is the only API security platform vendor to provide runtime API visibility, security risk monitoring, and patented behavourial fingerprinting technology to detect and protect against evolving online attacks without the development and deployment friction associated with other offerings.

Cequence solutions embrace the discover, comply, protect methodology. API Spyder is a SaaS-based discovery tool that provides an attacker’s view into an organisation’s public-facing resources to find and identify external API hosts, cloud hosting providers, and API gateways and infrastructure.

API Sentinel discovers, monitors, and tests APIs, both known and unknown, assessing a broad range of risks that can lead to governance or compliance issues, data loss, and business disruption. Finally, Spartan protects applications from the full range of bot attacks to prevent data loss, theft, and fraud, eliminating harmful business impacts such as downtime, brand damage, skewed sales analytics, and increased infrastructure costs.

These three solutions can integrate into any API infrastructure and over 300 applications. In addition, the CQ Prime Threat Research team act as an API threat hunting resource, analysing automated attacks and exploits and translating those efforts into improved API protection, published research, dynamic policy updates, and product enhancement.

Cequence has continued to play a pioneering role in the sector. It was the first to recognise threat actors were combining tactics, techniques and procedures leading to a new threat which is now reflected in the revised OWASP API Security Top 10. It was also the only API vendor to be consulted by Verizon for its Data Breach Investigations Report.

It’s also been quick to harness the potential of AI, unveiling the industry’s first and only API security testing suite for Generative AI Applications. Enhancements to the UAP platform include the ability to test LLM applications for OWASP LLM Top 10 threats and detecting and blocking automated AI bot activity. AI-backed attacks can also be detected using machine learning, enabling analysts to save up to 90% of their time by simultaneously threat hunting over multiple APIs.

Cequence solutions scale to handle the most demanding government, Fortune, and Global 500 organizations, securing more than eight billion daily API interactions and protecting more than three billion user accounts.
