About CoinCorner
Founded in 2014 and based on the Isle of Man, CoinCorner began as a simple Bitcoin exchange with one clear goal: to make Bitcoin accessible to as many people as possible. Over the last decade, we’ve grown into a full-service Bitcoin platform focused on making Bitcoin practical, usable, and relevant in everyday life – not just a speculative asset.
While many companies in the space focus purely on trading, our mission has always been broader. We’re building real-world infrastructure to help Bitcoin function both as a store of value and a payment method. Our suite of products now includes not only Bitcoin trading but also e-money accounts for individuals and businesses, and Bitcoin-backed loans, with interest and insurance products on the way.
In 2022, we launched The Bolt Card – the world’s first contactless Bitcoin Lightning card. Using NFC technology and the Lightning Network, the card allows for fast, seamless in-person payments, much like a contactless Visa, but powered entirely by Bitcoin’s open and decentralised network.
We’ve also taken steps to solve real pain points in the Bitcoin industry. Our e-money accounts have been a game changer, offering clients GBP account details (sort code and account number), which makes moving funds in and out of CoinCorner faster, simpler, and more reliable, and removing the friction often caused by traditional banks.
In 2025, we began trialing Bitcoin-backed loans, giving users access to liquidity without having to sell their Bitcoin – a solution that aligns closely with the long-term strategies of many holders and our vision of Bitcoin as a functional financial tool.
Despite our growth, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. Hostility from traditional banks meant we operated with European banking partners for years before finally securing a UK banking relationship. Regulatory complexity has also been a hurdle, but we’ve worked closely with local and international regulators to ensure strong compliance with AML and KYC standards – a key reason behind our reputation for trust and reliability.
We take pride in delivering excellent customer support, whether it’s for someone brand new to Bitcoin or a more experienced user. And we remain actively involved in education and advocacy through talks, community events, and partnerships.
