About Gcore
Gcore is an edge AI, cloud, network, and security solution provider founded in Luxembourg in 2014 by Andre Reitenbach. Since the company was founded, Andre envisioned Gcore becoming a global player and set about a mission to build a network capable of delivering ultra-low latency experiences—from Tokyo to Buenos Aires—while safeguarding servers from powerful DDoS attacks.
Today, the company has grown to 600 employees, with ten offices worldwide that support a global network of over 180 Points of Presence on six continents. Despite the company’s dramatic growth in the last ten years, Gcore’s early days were not without challenges. Reflecting on the company’s growth journey, Andre recalls having to personally transport equipment to various locations to meet customer deadlines when Gcore first started out.
The latest addition to the Gcore platform is Edge AI. Companies can now meet their AI needs, leveraging a platform that integrates AI, cloud, network, and security solutions, all at the edge.
With the launch of Gcore’s AI-driven WAAP earlier this year, the company set out to make top-tier protection affordable for businesses of all sizes by combining multiple security products into one solution. By unifying web application firewall (WAF), application-layer DDoS protection, bot management, and API security, within a single solution, Gcore has made it possible for businesses to save money and simplify their cyber defense strategy without compromising on security.
With AI-driven threat detection, behavioural analysis, and machine learning, WAAP uses insights from Gcore’s edge platform to identify patterns of malicious activity. What’s more, Gcore’s customer-led approach to security solutions extends to working with clients to develop custom features tailored to their businesses’ specific needs.
Gcore is highly regarded for its reporting on the DDoS attack landscape as part of its bi-annual Radar report. Gcore’s Radar report provides businesses with an accessible digest of DDoS trends and delivers actionable insights on the varied security needs across specific industries. For instance, Gcore’s latest report highlights a significant 46% rise in DDoS attacks during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The gaming industry remains the hardest hit, accounting for 49% of all attacks, driven by its competitive nature and the high financial stakes in online gaming.
