About BotGuard

BotGuard is a web traffic management company that allows web hosting providers to filter good, bad, and costly traffic to reduce management costs and enable frictionless access for real visitors while also protecting customer websites and infrastructure from malicious threats.

Almost half of web traffic is bot-generated, but not all bot-generated traffic is bad. Search engine and social network bots crawl websites and can be useful, but traffic from bad bots, such as malicious scrapers, scalpers, and ad clickers can cost companies vital revenue. SMEs can’t afford to lose valuable revenue, yet they are the targets of 43% of all cyber attacks.

BotGuard was founded in 2019 by co-founders Nik Rozenberg (CEO) and Denis Prochko (CTO). Rozenberg has more than 25 years of experience in engineering and entrepreneurship and has founded companies in Israel, Canada, and Estonia. Prochko has more than 25 years of experience working in cybersecurity and banking software. BotGuard was born of Rozenberg and Prochko’s own experiences battling malicious web traffic in banking software.

The pair recognised the need for an accessible and affordable solution for other website owners. Most providers are designed for large corporations and are therefore outside of an SME’s budget. The co-founders have put together a seasoned team of professionals with profound experience in the web hosting industry.

BotGuard sells its managed web traffic security solutions directly to web hosting providers and addresses a global market of up to 30,000 hosting providers – ranging from the largest global clouds such as AWS to small managed services providers in developing markets. To date, it has built a global customer base of internet service providers and is protecting thousands of businesses from bad bot traffic.

Hosting providers can either offer BotGuard’s web traffic management as part of their core service to customers or generate new revenue streams by upselling the tool to customers. This also allows the providers to differentiate themselves in a crowded and competitive market.

To date, BotGuard has raised €15M in funding with investors such as MMC Ventures (lead in Series A), Tera Ventures, and Expeditions Fund.
