About Sibstar
Sibstar is the UK’s leading debit card and app designed specifically for adults who need help managing their everyday money.
Nearly half of the UK adult population exhibits one or more characteristics of financial vulnerability, making them more susceptible to financial challenges, including the rising threat of financial scams.
Current banking services offered to people who find money management difficult and their caregivers are inadequate and not fit for purpose. Often the only choice for caregivers is to remove the individual’s access to their finances, resulting in financial exclusion and social isolation speeding their decline and the need for costly, higher levels of care.
Sibstar has been set up to combat this and offers an innovative way for people to access and manage their day-to-day money and empower those at risk of financial exclusion to live financially independently for longer in a safe, supported way.
The debit card is pre-loaded with funds, then how and where the money is spent can be managed through the Sibstar app. Sibstar’s functionality can be instantly switched on or off, delivering a flexible solution which can be personalised as the needs of individual customers change.
Sibstar is a scalable business, built originally for people living with dementia and now serving all adults that find money management difficult, from those with learning disabilities and mental health conditions to adults at risk of financial abuse or in addiction recovery.
We have the opportunity to have a deep, long lasting positive impact on millions of lives.
Jayne Sibley is the CEO and co-founder of Sibstar. Inspired by her own personal experience caring for her parents living with dementia, Jayne identified a critical gap in financial services: empowering financially vulnerable adults to maintain their financial independence in a safe and secure way.
Sibstar supports people living with dementia, those with learning disabilities, people recovering from gambling addiction, individuals managing mental health conditions, and other groups at risk of financial scams.
Sibstar has secured high profile partnerships with the likes of Mastercard and is supported by the UK’s leading dementia charity, the Alzheimer’s Society. Sibstar is rapidly scaling to meet the needs of those who require safe, secure, and specifically tailored financial tools.
After a standout appearance on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, Sibstar secured investment from Sara Davies and Deborah Meaden. Jayne’s pitch resonated not only with the Dragons but also with audiences across the country, shining a spotlight on the importance of financial inclusion for vulnerable communities. Sibstar is a company to watch within the fintech space, appearing in Bloomberg’s Top 25 UK Startups to Watch list in 2024.
