TisOva is an innovative cybersecurity startup launched in 2023, dedicated to addressing the growing issue of online scams targeting students. Young people are disproportionately impacted by digital threats due to their extensive online presence and limited awareness of cybercrime. TisOva is an AI-driven scam detection and prevention platform that proactively shields students from online scams and fraud, empowering them with real-time protection and awareness to prevent potential victimization.
The idea for TisOva emerged after three of our founder; Valeen Oseh-Ovarah’s student friends were scammed, with one even dropping out of university due to financial losses. As an ex-fraud and cybercrime investigator, Valeen recognized the urgent need for a solution that goes beyond traditional scam awareness campaigns and focuses on real-time threat detection.
Although we are still in the early stages of development, we’ve validated the problem through extensive user research with students and universities. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, affirming the need for a specialized solution like TisOva. We’ve already raised awareness of the vulnerabilities students face and have begun advocating for stronger security measures in the higher education sector.
A key milestone for us has been receiving a national innovation award and grants from Innovate UK, which support our product development. TisOva has also gained recognition through various accelerator programs, highlighting our unique approach to solving this growing problem.
Our long-term impact in the cybersecurity industry will be measured by a significant reduction in scam incidents and financial losses among students, ensuring safer online experiences for young people globally.
