Brain Corp develops autonomous technology for commercial robotics. Founded in 2009 by computational neuroscientist Dr. Eugene Izhikevich and entrepreneur Dr. Allen Gruber, the San-Diego based company began as a research partner to Qualcomm and DARPA.
Its BrainOS® platform now powers the world’s largest fleet of commercial Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), over 40,000 machines operating in retail stores, airports, warehouses, hospitals, and schools across multiple countries. Together these robots have logged more than 21 million autonomous operating hours and traveled the equivalent of almost 300 billion square feet.
Brain Corp addressed a critical challenge in robotics: transforming everyday commercial robots into autonomous systems that work safely alongside people. While industrial robots operate in controlled spaces, BrainOS-powered robots navigate busy, unpredictable environments. To make this possible, Brain Corp developed safety controllers meeting UL 60730-1 and SIL2 standards, achieving 99.9999% hourly reliability. Scaling this technology from pilot to global deployment required more than $150 million in investment from SoftBank Vision Fund and Qualcomm Ventures.

As autonomous systems became part of everyday life, Brain Corp recognized that trust and transparency were as vital as technical performance. The company embedded robust data security and privacy controls into its development process, aligning with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and IEC 61508 standards. A data processing addendum is available for global customers to alleviate their cross-border data transfer concerns.
In 2025, Brain Corp introduced the industry’s first Trust Center — a public resource explaining how data from autonomous mobile robots is collected, processed, and protected. Within the Trust Center, its chatbot offers clear answers to common enterprise questions: what data is gathered, how it is used, who can access it, and where it is stored. Core measures include navigation-first sensor design, automatic face blurring, robot and cloud encryption at rest, role-based permissions, and minimal on-robot data retention through automatic overwriting.
By making these practices transparent, Brain Corp has shown that commercial and industrial robotics can advance without compromising privacy and security. The Trust Center has become a model for responsible innovation—proving that real-world autonomy depends as much on ethical data stewardship as on engineering excellence.
