A Conversation With Oleksii Pimenov, Founder And Chief Software Engineer At SimBuster

You describe SimBuster as a full telecom stack inside one app. What does that actually mean for someone downloading it for the first time?

For the user, it means they can download one app and immediately get access to the kind of telecom tools that normally require several providers, contracts or technical setup. With SimBuster, someone can get phone numbers, eSIM travel data, call credit, mobile top-ups, outbound calling, an AI receptionist and an IVR builder from one place.

The simple answer is this – we are putting an entire phone system inside your phone.

A small business, freelancer, traveller or creator can have a second number, route calls, use mobile data abroad, top up phones and even create a receptionist style using a library of voices call flow without needing a PBX or desk phone or telecom engineer or long contract.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea came from seeing a very real human problem. After leaving Ukraine, I saw friends and family scattered across different countries. Many were trying to rebuild their lives while still needing to stay connected to loved ones, keep reachable numbers, call affordably and use mobile data wherever they had ended up. At first, it was about helping people individually. One person needed a number. Another needed cheaper calling. Someone else needed data while moving between countries. But the more we helped, the more obvious the bigger problem became. Communication had become fragmented. People were using one app for calling, another for data, another for top ups, another for business numbers, and none of it felt simple.

That became the idea behind SimBuster, one mobile app for people whose lives, work and families are no longer tied to one country.

You built the whole stack in-house. What was the hardest part?

The hardest part was that some of what we wanted to build did not really exist in the way we imagined it. The biggest example is the mobile IVR and receptionist builder. Traditional IVR systems usually sit inside business telecom platforms, hosted PBX systems or call centre software. They are powerful, but they are not simple or mobile first. We wanted someone to be able to build a proper call flow directly from their phone including greetings, menu options, routing, voice avatars, AI receptionist, voicemail and fallback actions – all without needing to understand telecom infrastructure and we solved that with a very simple puzzle that users complete.

That meant we had to build the logic, the interface and the telecom execution layer ourselves. It is one of the main reasons the system is patent pending. It was not just about making a nice app screen. It was about turning what is normally a complex telecom backend into something a normal person can use from a mobile phone.

Calling apps are often criticised for patchy quality. How do you deliver reliable calls globally from a mobile app?

You cannot deliver good voice quality by only building a nice user interface. There has to be a serious telecom layer underneath it. SimBuster uses real time calling over WebRTC, lowlatency DID delivery and voice-packet optimisation to help maintain call quality across different regions and networks. We have designed the platform so that when someone is travelling or using the app internationally, the voice path is still handled intelligently. The goal is to reduce delay, jitter and poor call quality as much as possible.

So although the user sees a simple mobile app, underneath that there is a global delivery layer built for real time voice. Who did you build this for?

We built it for anyone who needs communication tools that move with them.

That includes travellers who need affordable data and calling, people who want a second number, migrants and remote workers who live across borders, and small businesses that want to look professional without buying a full telecom system. Small businesses probably get the most immediate value. A one person business can have a business number, an AI receptionist, a call menu, voicemail, routing and call handling from one app. That is powerful because a small business can sound organised and professional without needing a receptionist, office phone system or telecom contract.

What makes SimBuster different from other calling apps?

Most calling apps solve one narrow problem. They give you calls, or a second number, or data. SimBuster brings several layers together – numbers, calls, eSIM data, top-ups, AI receptionist, IVR, voice avatars and referral based earning. The IVR builder is the most unique part. Being able to build a receptionist style phone system from a mobile app is very different from simply buying a second number and this comes free with a phone number as standard. We are also building the commercial model into the app. Traditionally, telecom has had ISO agents, resellers and referral partners, but that world is often manual and old fashioned. SimBuster effectively puts that reseller logic inside the app, so users can refer others and earn when eligible services are purchased. So the bigger idea is not only communication. It is communication plus opportunity.

What is next for SimBuster?

The next step is to simplify the experience and get the app into more peoples hands. We have built a lot of technology, but now the job is to make it extremely easy for people to understand. The focus is on three main areas.

First, helping users quickly understand what SimBuster does: second numbers, travel data, calling and AI receptionist tools in one app.

Second, growing the AI receptionist and IVR features so small businesses and individuals can build useful call flows without any technical knowledge.

Third, developing the referral and earning model, so people can share SimBuster and earn from services their network already needs.

Longer term, we want SimBuster to become the communication app for people who live, work, travel or build businesses across borders.

What do you want people to feel when they use SimBuster?

We want people to feel that telecom does not have to be complicated anymore. If you are travelling, starting a business, rebuilding your life in a new country, or just trying to manage personal and work calls separately, you should not need five different services. You should be able to open one app and get connected. That is our mission- help people stay reachable, look professional and create opportunity wherever life takes them!
