spaceOS has been providing technology to commercial real estate and space-as-a-service operators since 2016 and is now active in 17 countries, in 80 locations and has over 75,000 users. spaceOS is the operating system for safe, flexible and people-centric workspaces.
We are a cloud based software platform that connects buildings, their technology and services with the occupiers of the buildings or workspaces through an app. Now that the pandemic has fundamentally reset the way people work, solutions like spaceOS are the tools of the moment to orchestrate the future of work.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
At the dawn of coworking, I understood pretty quickly that this could become the future of work.
There was no technology for these kinds of workspaces at that time. Being a software entrepreneur I decided to build an MVP with basic functionalities for co-working and deployed it for the first time in 2016 in Brooklyn NYC at New Lab, and here we are, five years later.
We have 35 employees and have come a long way. I always felt that people need more choice, options and flexibility in their work life and it became my mission to build the technology to orchestrate that.

What advice would you give to other aspiring entrepreneurs?
A great question! I’d say think twice before you start a startup, it’s a long and challenging journey. But honestly, there is no better thing than being an entrepreneur. You have to be willing to deal with rejections and disappointments, but if at some point you reach success, the feeling is priceless. So my advice is, think big – it’s a journey, a long marathon, you will need to take losses and learn and improve constantly and that will lead you to success sooner or later.
What can we hope to see from spaceOS in the future?
Exciting stuff and tonnes of innovation. For instance, we are working on humanizing data from sensors and data from building management systems and combining it with behavioural data to visualize the carbon footprint of the user in the workspace and guide them towards more sustainable working practices. Making the user aware of their carbon footprint in the workspace and giving them guidance on how to improve it, that’s the idea.
We are also working on a solution to book workspace on-demand across multiple locations for employees, and on the other end allow office managers to set capacity limits and coordinate a hybrid workforce across multiple locations.
We are constantly improving, rethinking and coming up with new ideas. It’s in our DNA to build the technology for the future of work.
