Meet Dan Awais-Dean CEO of Property Platform: EverKnock

Tell us about EverKnock?

Buying a home is widely considered to be one of life’s most stressful experiences, especially for first-time buyers – characterised by a lack of guidance, poor communication and juggling a dozen different service providers. EverKnock is a concierge that takes the time and stress out of buying and selling a home. Through a combination of human expertise, artificial intelligence and automation, we streamline communication between all the major stakeholders – buyers, solicitors, mortgage brokers, surveyors and more – and integrate all the home-moving service providers needed into one seamless journey. Think of us like a wedding planner for your home-move.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?

When I was fortunate enough to get a deposit together to buy my first home, the pride I felt was quickly followed by an eye-opening fall when I realised just how much stress and confusion the process of getting my keys entailed. And it lasted for five months!

Five years later I went through the same process again but unfortunately the journey was no better and it took almost six anxiety-inducing months to get the keys, with little guidance throughout.

I became the de-facto project manager of my move without any expertise on it and it frustrated me to find out that this was something that hadn’t changed in decades. So I founded EverKnock, mainly so that I wouldn’t have to go through such a stressful time again and hopefully so that others wouldn’t have to do the same. When I found out how common my experience was, I became obsessed with trying to create a great home-moving experience for everyone involved.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?

Most startup founders will tell you that things can change considerably on a weekly or monthly basis, so looking back over the last couple of years it would be fair to say that the business has evolved dramatically. Initially, I founded the business on my own during the pandemic, and then met my co-founder the following year, at which point the business pivoted to become much more consumer-centric.

We have since launched a comprehensive service, built partnerships with some of the most innovative and customer-focused home-moving service brands in the country, signed commercial agreements with leading estate agency groups and proudly been recognised for our work. Most importantly though, we’ve made the home-moving experience smooth and stress-free for our users.

What can we hope to see from EverKnock in the future?

In the short-term, we will be releasing our home-moving app that will enable buyers and sellers to more easily navigate their journey as well as have direct access to their personal concierge and all the other services they need. In the medium term, we have a target of cutting completion times and fall-through rates by at least 50%, with these increased efficiencies having at least that much impact on the experience that people have when buying and selling their homes. But our ultimate target is to create a completely seamless, stress-free home-buying and selling experience that will make people excited rather than fearful of the journey.
