MetaGym is the first exercise-to-earn mobile application in the market, complete with smart watch and heart rate monitor integration, to utilize biometric data to earn cryptocurrency through heart rate.
The app uses the Polygon blockchain – the Mark Cuban-backed chain that is partnered with brands such as Coca-Cola and Starbucks – to reward users for their positive, holistic approach to healthy behaviours through exercise, meditation, sleep, nutrition and more through gamification to enhance motivation.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?
As an individual with extensive experience within the health and fitness industry, combined with a passion for crypto and web3.0 technology, I had a lightbulb moment to combine the two biggest passions in my life and developed the product to help motivate people to participate in healthier habits.
As a 20-year fitness industry veteran with successful businesses in the exercise and health education space, I analyzed and utilized the play-to-earn gaming mechanisms to fitness in order to create Metagym and incentivize users to improve their health with cryptocurrency.
MetaGym is unique in that it is the first company to utilize biometric data from fitness wearables to pay its users in crypto for performing health behaviours.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
MetaGym was founded in November 2021 with the initial intention to bring like-minded NFT, cryptocurrency and fitness enthusiasts together through a unique offering – MetaGym – which would be a virtual gym within the metaverse.
However, as the ideas have evolved and we’ve spent more time developing our application, we came to realise that we could also help people get fitter in the physical world too thanks to the extra motivation that rewards and “exercise-to-earn” bring to an individual.
What can we hope to see from MetaGym in the future?
As we grow, we’re looking to introduce brand partnerships to bring fitness, health and wellbeing brands to the earning ecosystem to further incentivize healthy behaviours with physical products and unique branded utility. We also want to become the starting point for web2 companies to help bridge the gap as they look to enter the web3 world.
