Clu is a skills -first job marketplace shattering barriers to entry for overlooked and underutilised talent.
Our pioneering Inclusive Recruitment Platform™ uses proprietary algorithms to generate skills matrixes from job descriptions and then matches opportunities to job seekers with those skills in a safeguarded and fully accessible environment.
This approach not only broadens Employers’ talent pools but also improves application accuracy and cements using organisations as leaders in inclusive hiring.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
When myself and my business partner Cayelan were overlooked for jobs we knew we were great at, all because we didn’t have the ‘right’ background and educational route on our CVs.
Clu was founded to elevate and illuminate everyone that has been overlooked for jobs they’d be good at. As part of our mission to make the working world work for everyone, we use our data to build campaigns and research projects to further democratise opportunity in the job market.
What do you think makes this company unique?
Our pioneering Inclusive Recruitment Platform™ uses proprietary algorithms to generate skills matrices from job descriptions and then matches opportunities to job seekers with
those skills. This approach not only broadens Employers’ talent pools and significantly improves candidate experience, but it also improves application accuracy and cements using organisations as leaders in inclusive, skills-based hiring.
We are leading innovation in our field because our platform routinely gathers invaluable data about skills, demographics, and geographies, enabling us to use these insights to help Employers re-evaluate what it takes to do a job well and who can do that job.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
We started the company in 2021 and have had a very busy 12 months. After completing our meticulous research phase for the platform, we launched our beta pilots last summer with top businesses such as BBC studios, TSB, Stryker and UKTV.
We used client generated revenue from pilots to build Clu v1.0 and have gained several very high-profile advocates, like Lord Simon Wooley, along the way.
What can we hope to see from you in the future?
We want to grow the platform and to continue to dramatically increase the democratisation of career pathways but in doing so, save businesses huge amounts of time and money that can be reinvested into employee experience and retention. We are aiming to bring more features that specifically target the mobilisation of the most marginalised groups in society. We are already running our programmes across the UK but want to scale this impact far beyond our borders.
We want to be the leader in advocacy for job seekers because of our new way of finding work in a rewarding, time-sensitive and empowering way. Clu is at the forefront of the social mobility revolution. And we will not stop breaking down barriers to entry and participation until we achieve our vision of a democratic job market. Ultimately, we want to boost the socially mobile workforce by over 1,000,000 over the next ten years.
