Meet Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan, Co-Founder & CEO of Cross-Cloud Collaboration Application: Samooha

Tell us about Samooha.

Think of a very intuitive collaboration product experience, like Slack, where one is not simply communicating with co-workers in a channel but learning, sharing, and collaborating via analytics workloads without moving any of your or your partner’s data. This is Samooha.

Samooha’s core product is a cross-cloud, secure data collaboration application. It enables businesses and enterprises to securely share, collaborate and garner insights from their and their partner ecosystem’s data, irrespective of the underlying cloud/data stack any of them are on.

Today, no first-class product of this type removes the friction of data collaboration/sharing and creates a secure airway across clouds. Samooha is building for this vision. While doing so, we’re also bringing verticalised industry-specific products that enable use cases across various industries.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?

I saw a need in the market to treat consumer data with a higher level of sanctity. We’ve seen discourse about this topic in marketing tech, but I knew this idea could expand across all industries in a variety of use cases. From a software perspective, there was a growing need to have a “big easy button” for businesses to do right by their customer data.

Abuse happens in tech because it’s easy to do. But, it also occurs when there are no easy solutions to do right by sensitive data. Companies begin to cut corners. I began to see this all play out and decided to take a transformational approach.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?

Samooha was founded in summer 2022 but officially launched earlier this year with our $12M funding announcement, led by Altimeter Capital and Snowflake Ventures. We’ve made massive strides in a short period of time, with Fortune 500 companies already leveraging our technology. Most recently, we launched our Free Trial feature to lower entry barriers to secure data collaboration. This approach drives tangible business value and outcomes across the modern data stack.

What can we hope to see from Samooha in the future?

Ten years from now, industries will laugh about how they used to handle data. What blockchain did to secure financial transactions is what Samooha will do, and is doing, for data.

I’d like to see Samooha branch further into industries such as healthcare and financial services.

Fortunately, we are honored to have just raised $12.5 million in Series A capital from Altimeter Capital. This financing will help make Samooha’s consumer-grade data application more accessible to all.
