Meet Laura Neville, Founder at Adaptogenic Blend Brand: Herbtender

My husband, Mark, and I have always had an interest in physical and mental health. I have had life long issues with sleep and have tried various sleep aids over the years but I always worry about the effects of taking anything long- term. I also dislike anything that makes it difficult to wake up in the morning or that leaves me with a foggy head for the day. We stumbled across the concept of adaptogens when researching natural sleep solutions and we found them to be very effective and safe to take daily. We struggled to find products that were honest, clean, sustainable and contemporary, so we decided to combine our skills and create the products that we wanted to take ourselves.

Working alongside a Medical Herbalist with over 20 years of experience, The Herbtender’s holistic adaptogen blends were born. An all natural and non-toxic class of herbs and mushrooms, adaptogens have been used for thousands of years to help the body build resilience to cope with stress. From calming to stimulating, there’s an adaptogen for every area of your life in need of rebalancing.

What do you think makes this company unique?

Our formulations are what makes our range truly unique. Designed by Medical Herbalist Schia Mitchell Sinclair, with a background in science and over 20 years’ experience treating patients, Schia’s formulations are thoughtfully crafted and highly effective. We responsibly source the finest ingredients and never use fillers, binders, artificial flavours or sweeteners.

Our supplements are also vegan, gluten free, and made in the UK, which means we adhere to strict regulations. Plant based and planet positive, our packaging is not only beautiful but sustainable. We give back: every purchase from us helps to support rhino conservation.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?

The idea for The Herbtender germinated during the first lockdown in 2020. We connected with Schia over Zoom, and hit it off immediately. We also employed a project manager and our little team of four were daily lockdown companions on video calls as we brought every aspect of the brand to life.

We created, trialled and perfected our range of 7 supplements which target: sleep, anxiety, energy, fatigue, focus, immunity and physical performance. We also created our beautiful visual identity, packaging and website. We didn’t rush anything and took our time to get every aspect right.

The Herbtender launched in January 2022 and since then our small team has expanded to accommodate more much needed expertise. It’s been exhilarating to be out in the real world, sharing our products with people looking for natural solutions to stress. We’ve given talks on panels, appeared in pop-up stores, been shortlisted for an award, and most recently, have been stocked on the shelves of Selfridges in London!

What can we hope to see from The Herbtender in the future?

The future is looking bright for The Herbtender. Our values of integrity, rooted in nature, considered craftsmanship and approachable expertise are resonating with people and our community online and in the real world is growing rapidly. We are initiating a monthly programme of Herb Walks, with the aim of bringing together groups of people looking to spend time outdoors and to reconnect with nature.

We will continue to strive to bring effective products to market to support people in pursuit of natural and sustainable solutions to our stressful modern lives. We believe that nature has always held the answers and our passion is to reconnect people with the power of plants.
