Meet Rika Khurdayan, CLO at New Space and Time Labs

Could you share a bit about your background and how you began working in the Web3 space?

 

My entry into the Web3 space was serendipitous. In 2017, while speaking at a conference, someone asked me to explain the Howey test. That led me to explore blockchain technology, and I’ve never looked back. With a background in capital markets transactions and structures, I quickly found myself helping clients navigate the regulatory environment, structuring operations, and launching their projects in a compliant manner.

From 2017 until I joined Bitstamp as US Chief Legal Officer in 2022, I founded and managed a law firm in New York representing protocol sponsors, issuers of digital assets, traditional and crypto investment funds, as well as family offices, fund managers and web2 businesses wishing to cross over to the blockchain sector. When I joined Bitstamp in 2022, I immersed myself in understanding the other side of the market—trading, custody, money transmission, and more.

This experience has given me a holistic view of the industry as a whole. Now, with this comprehensive background, I’m excited to join one of the most innovative projects in Web3, Space and Time.

 

 

What motivated you to join Space and Time, and how do you envision contributing to future projects at SxT?

 

I have always been fascinated by the transformative business models emerging from protocol builders and native Web3 projects. Space and Time is at the forefront of this innovation, particularly with its focus on decentralized data, privacy and the future of trustless applications. The impressive team that the founders have assembled to bring this technology to market was the main motivation for me to join—I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

 

 

With my background in capital markets, regulatory compliance, and Web3, I’m eager to contribute by ensuring our innovations meet regulatory standards. I aim to help build robust legal and operational foundations that will enable Space and Time to pioneer new use cases for decentralized technologies.

 

What exciting developments can we look forward to seeing from SxT in the future?

 

The sky is the limit. I don’t think many people fully realize what the team has built. Our zk-coprocessor is groundbreaking and can power the next generation of AI applications that rely on verified on-chain data. This technology unlocks new possibilities for decentralized applications across various industries. I’m particularly excited for the upcoming testnet, where we’ll see this innovation in action.
