How Did Culture Amp Start?

 
Culture Amp was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2011 to create a better world of work by helping companies put Culture First. The Culture Amp Founders believed that the successful organisations of the future would all have people and culture at the heart of their strategies. In essence, putting ‘culture first’ leads to better business performance. To prove this hypothesis, Culture Amp set out to do two things.

Firstly, help our customers to go on this journey by creating an Employee Experience platform with a goal of amplifying the experience and impact of over 100 million people at work. Secondly, to be Customer Zero ourselves. To go on the journey to become a Culture First organisation at scale and share those learnings with our customers and community along the way.

What Challenges Have You Faced?

 
Culture Amp had 4 global offices (Melbourne, San Francisco, New York, London) by the time we were 70 employees. This shift to being a truly global business early on was driven by our ambition to impact the lives of 100 million people at work. Due to the timezone challenges this created, it led us to lean into our Company values (especially ‘Trust people to own decisions’) and to focus heavily on our ways of working & internal communications.

 

What Can We Hope to See From Culture Amp in the Future?

 
Our ambition is for Culture Amp to become the central nervous system for our customers and an essential part of every employee’s experience at work. Expect to see new parts of the platform that expand on this mission such as our recently launched Employee Development module.
