Startup Interview: Chanty

Chanty is an easy-to-use team collaboration tool for small, medium, and large corporations. Because of its simplicity, straightforward layout, and built-in capabilities like a task organiser, Chanty (https://www.chanty.com/) is a good fit for non-tech savvy teams. Instant chat, audio and video calling, file sharing, screen sharing, task management, and more are all available through Chanty. It saves a lot of time and increases employee productivity. TechRound sat down with Chanty founder Dmytro Okunyev to find out more.

What Inspired You To Start Chanty?

It all started with, ‘This shouldn’t be so complicated and clunky!’

I had three other businesses before starting Chanty. They’re all involved in web development and design. During that time, I tried a bunch of different messaging apps, and every time I opened a team chat, I couldn’t help but think that it’s far too difficult. There were no audio or video calls available; even if they were, they had too many restrictions.

I eventually realised that I needed a more effective way to interact with everyone who works with me, so I experimented with various tools, including Slack. None of them met my needs, and I decided to create my own chat app. It started off as an internal initiative, but then we realised we might profit from it, so we launched a beta and quickly attracted many clients.

Who Is Chanty For?

Chanty is a team chat app that aims to simplify communication and collaboration for teams of all sizes including big corporations.

What Does Good Team Collaboration Look Like To You?

To build effective team collaboration, I believe it is critical to have open and honest communication as well as mutual accountability. Communication is essential for every team to develop a sense of camaraderie among its members.

In addition, for improved teamwork, teams should be able to accept responsibility as a unit. They shouldn’t hold each other responsible for the team’s faults and failures. Rather, they should admit their faults as a group and work together to improve the team’s overall performance. They should also celebrate their success as a group and acknowledge remarkable performances and contributions that each team member contributes to the team’s overall work.

What Is The Key To Maintaining A Good Working Team In A Company?

For a good working team, it is very important to have a clear goal. Organisations are sometimes in such a rush to complete projects that they gather groups of people without first determining the goals and expected outcomes.

So, first and foremost, decide on the team’s goals and expected results. It can be used to provide a clear direction to the team you choose. Begin with the end in mind: what is the desired outcome and why? Allow the team to figure out the best route to get there.

Invest in your team as well! I make sure that all of my employees have all they require to advance and grow in their jobs. I ensure that they have access to training, conferences, books, and everything else they require. The more knowledge they have, the more important they are to the business.

With People And Colleagues Being More Connected Than Ever Before Via The Internet, How Has This Improved Company Workflows?

This has improved the company workflows to a great extent. Communication among the employees, or management or both has become fast, instantaneous, more deliberate, collaborative, and unified. It has also enabled many companies to incorporate remote working and pool in unique talent from around the world in their teams.

Coming Out Of The Global Pandemic, How Do You See People Using And Benefiting From Chanty?

The end of the pandemic does not mean that video calls are no longer needed. It might result in less video utilisation, but the video will almost certainly continue to be a part of meetings, if not a must. Most firms aim to pursue a hybrid work model after the pandemic, in which some of their workforces work remotely at least part of the time.

According to research, during and now after the pandemic, many companies have completely shifted their work online. This has allowed them to take advantage of teams with skills from around the world. The pandemic has shifted the way businesses work for many of us!

With Chanty, organisations working remotely and conventionally will be able to communicate with all team members from various departments with a single click of a button and increase productivity.

There Are So Many Teams’ Collaboration Tools Out There Like Slack And Others; What Sets Chanty Apart From The Competitors?

Slack being the largest SaaS application, is our biggest competitor. We attempt to remain ahead of the competition by including more advanced features in the free trial, such as unlimited searchable message history. We also included a project management tool in our app, so you can get more done with one app. Finally, we are very affordably priced, especially if you have a larger company (100+ employees).

So, You Are The True ‘Slack Alternative?’

Yes, I believe we are a true alternative to Slack. Chanty is considerably cheaper and more efficient than Slack. Unlike Slack, we offer unlimited chat history, task management, voice messages etc.

Productivity Is Important To All Companies; How Does Chanty Help Boost And Maximise Productivity?

Team communication is a great approach to boost productivity at work, but it’s not enough on its own. To help you get the most out of Chanty, we have integrated Zapier, the best automation tool available, allowing you to link Chanty to over 1,000 other tools in Zapier’s program.

Chanty also integrates with Trello, Asana, Google Drive, Dropbox, Onedrive, Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket, Mailchimp, Giphy, etc. Those integrations allow your team to communicate and collaborate effectively.

Moreover, it serves as a central spot for all your projects, conversations, pinned messages, and shared content. You can quickly access a full communication history and quickly locate members of your team.
