A Chat with Vladimir Lupenko, CEO at Orthodontic Start-Up: Impress

We are the leading chain of orthodontic clinics, that has revolutionised the invisible orthodontic sector with the best team of professionals and the latest technology applied to the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of all cases. We are the largest chain of ortho clinics with fully digital processes, including our own clinic management system and remote treatment monitoring platform.

We offer a medical treatment based on a technique with more than 20 years of experience, but through a totally different and disruptive experience. We use technology to perform more precise treatments, in less time and adapt to the lives of our patients, but without ceasing to offer personalised and constant medical assistance.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?

Impress was born from my own experience as an orthodontic patient, as we realised there was a gap in what consumers need. Before Impress, a patient could choose between very conservative and technology-averse orthodontic practices or a DTC company that only focused on cosmetic treatment.

Our ease and flexibility to perform treatments along with the medical expertise of our co-founder and chief orthodontist Dr. Kasem meant that we were able to fill that gap in the market. With this, Impress was born in 2019, under the idea of combining the best of the orthodontic tradition with the most innovative technology in the sector.

What impact did the Covid-19 health crisis have on Impress?

The pandemic has undoubtedly been the greatest obstacle we have encountered since our inception, as it has for many other businesses, but we have managed to redirect the situation and turn a threat into an opportunity. Thanks to our invisible digital orthodontic system, we were able to offer a professional treatment at a distance with the launch of our virtual visits/video calls with specialised orthodontics.

In addition, those who had started their treatment could continue without leaving home because all the necessary aligners are developed with the Impress Kit to achieve the best result from wherever the patient wants.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, in less than two years, Impress has managed to position itself as the European leader in the orthodontic sector. Our innovation and quality earned us recognition from Sifted as one of the fastest-growing HealthTech companies in Europe in 2020. We have also treated tens of thousands of patients in the process.

What can we hope to see from Impress in the future?

Our intention is to conquer new markets and consolidate ourselves in those in which we are already present – we currently have a presence in more than 100 clinics with 600 people and we have just recently opened our first two flagship clinics in the UK, in London and Manchester, with more in the planning.

We are a company committed to the innovation and digitisation of orthodontic treatments, and we aim to continue to implement the latest technology and offer our patients the best possible medical care, without interrupting their lifestyle.
