About Nasella Pty Ltd
Healthcare has accepted unnecessary harm as part of accepted practice for generations. Conceived in 2022 and founded in 2023, Nasella is an Australian MedTech company developing a new generation of tape free facial securement systems for nasal feeding tubes, while challenging long-standing assumptions about how healthcare problems should be solved.
The company was born from a simple question asked from a hospital bed: Why has healthcare continued to accept preventable harm as normal? At the time, there was no suitable solution available. To leave hospital safely, the founder created the first Nasella concept and an early prototype herself, transforming personal necessity into the beginning of a company.
Before founding Nasella, the same problem had already been experienced from three different perspectives: as the parent of an infant requiring tube feeding, as an allied health professional supporting children and families, and finally as the patient. Seeing the same challenge through each of these lenses revealed that many healthcare problems persist not because they cannot be solved, but because they have become accepted without being questioned.
Rather than treating the visible problem, Nasella first seeks to understand why it exists. Every solution begins by understanding the needs, behaviours and challenges of patients, caregivers, clinicians, hospitals and manufacturers before designing a product. This function-first approach has become the foundation of the company’s innovation philosophy.
That philosophy has guided the development of functional tape free silicone prototypes, supported Australian and international patent protection, informed early regulatory assessment, and attracted clinical interest from a major Australian teaching hospital through a letter of interest supporting future validation. Nasella has also established relationships with clinicians, engineers, investors, government innovation programs and commercial partners who share its vision for improving healthcare through better design.
Building the company has required navigating limited resources, regional Australia, chronic health conditions, acquired disability, ADHD, dyslexia and motherhood. Rather than defining the company, these experiences have strengthened its resilience and shaped its way of solving problems. Every setback, criticism and unexpected outcome is treated as information that improves the next decision.
Although Nasella’s first focus is enteral feeding, its vision extends well beyond a single device. The company believes some of healthcare’s greatest opportunities for innovation exist in areas where long-standing workarounds have quietly replaced better solutions. By challenging accepted normalcy and reducing unnecessary human friction, Nasella aims to improve outcomes for patients, caregivers, clinicians and healthcare systems alike.
