Tech Accessories Brand juice® Vows to Remove all Virgin Plastic by the End of 2022

Mobile phone accessories manufacturer juice® has announced that its entire range will be ‘virgin’ plastic-free by the end of 2022 in a bid to continue its mission to be kinder to planet Earth.

As an extension of the brand’s ongoing sustainability initiative, the recently launched ‘juice® Made Mindfully’ campaign has been designed to help reduce the amount of virgin plastic in the world and to utilise recycled post-consumer waste collected from oceans, beaches and landfill sites instead.

Having become the first mobile phone accessories manufacturer in the UK to remove all single-use plastic from its packaging in July 2020, juice® is now focusing its efforts on the products themselves and vowing to use only recycled materials in the manufacture of every single line, whilst ensuring absolutely no compromise on cost or quality – in fact, the entire range will look and feel exactly the same!

juice® founder and CEO, Jolyon Bennett, explained: “Although we are extremely proud of our 100% recycled and recyclable packaging, we recognise we need to do more. There are over 30 billion tonnes of plastic in our oceans and landfill sites – and we want to use it. Why continue depleting the world’s natural resources to generate more virgin plastic when so much of this material already exists?

“This year, not only do we aim to shrink the packaging across our entire range, using 1,514km less material each year as a result (that’s the distance from Juice HQ in Banbury to Barcelona), but we are turning our attention to the plastic used within our products themselves.

“Although they are not single-use, they are still made using virgin plastic which is a big ‘no’ for us. That’s why we have made the decision to manufacture every single product category using recycled post-consumer waste collected from oceans, beaches and landfill sites in a bid to make them as eco-friendly as possible – starting with our speakers, cables and Power Banks from April 2022, followed by our core wireless and ‘mains’ range which will launch later on in the year in Q4.”

To ensure its iconic ‘cartons’ are 100% recyclable, juice® has removed all foil from its packaging, as well as any pouches/travel bags from its Power Banks, mains and speakers, saving 5.783 tonnes of material each year as a result. In addition to this, juice® plans to introduce a new cable made from TPE, an eco-friendly, non-toxic substance that not only decomposes in landfill (unlike PVC) but emits a lower carbon footprint as it requires less energy to make.

In January 2022, juice® was named the number one brand for all charging cables (Lightning, Type C and Micro USB), selling four times more Lightning cables than Belkin and even out-performing tech giant Apple, according to the ‘Market Update’ published by a market data source.

All juice® products can be purchased via the brand’s website, as well as from a range of retailers including Tesco, Amazon, Argos and Sainsbury’s.
