OpenAI has released Sora, a tool that converts written text into short videos, to the public for the first time. Previously, it was only accessible to a select group of filmmakers and artists during testing.
Now, anyone subscribed to ChatGPT Plus or Pro can use it. On a blog post, they said, “Earlier this year, we introduced Sora, our model that can create realistic videos from text, and shared our initial research progress on world simulation. Sora serves as a foundation for AI that understands and simulates reality—an important step towards developing models that can interact with the physical world.”
Sora generates video clips up to 20 seconds long. Subscribers can create these videos in different resolutions, with Pro users gaining access to higher quality. It also allows users to animate still images, remix videos, and combine multiple prompts into sequences.
What Can Sora Do?
Sora’s features are designed for creators across a whole lot of different platforms. It supports formats such as widescreen, vertical, and square videos. ChatGPT Plus users can produce shorter videos with lower resolutions, while Pro subscribers can create longer and higher-resolution content.
