UK-based tech startup Paragraf raises £12.8m

Paragraf, the UK graphene-based electronics technology company, recently announced its £12.8m Series A funding round.

The round was led by Parkwalk and also saw investment from IQ Capital Partners, Amadeus Capital Partners and Cambridge Enterprise and several angel investors.

With the fresh funding, Paragraf will get their first graphene-based electronics products to market. The funding will mean the company can become commercial and revenue-generating entity.

Graphene hold huge possibilities when it comes to engineering new technologies. As a material,  graphene has many incredible properties including being the most conductive material in the world, incredibly strong but flexible, has great thermal integrity and is capable of withstanding very high electrical powers.

Until recently, manufacturers have struggled to harness graphene’s many benefits. Paragraf is the first company to deliver IP-protected graphene technology. The company uses standard, mass production scale manufacturing approaches, allowing step-change performance enhancements to today’s electronic devices.

Paragraf’s first sensor products have already turned heads and illustrate the possibilities for graphene based technology. The next generation of electronics may well come out of large-scale, graphene-based production technology. Graphene technology has the potential to vastly increase computing speeds, significantly improve medical diagnostics and create higher efficiency renewable energy generation. Other exciting possibilities include products such as instant charging batteries and very low power, flexible electronics.

“This next phase will allow Paragraf to make these truly game-changing technologies a reality. Paragraf is continually seeking like-minded collaborative development, production and commercial partners to accelerate the delivery of the many exciting electronics technology opportunities graphene has to offer.”

Alastair Kilgour from Parkwalk said: “Parkwalk has been impressed by the strong progress the management and company have made since the seed round and is delighted to lead this funding round.

“We believe that Paragraf is well-equipped to deliver the unique benefits of graphene to their customers and licensees, which in turn will enable transformative products.”
