The UK tech sector has reached a landmark $1 trillion in value, the third national ecosystem to achieve such a feat, according to digital minister Chris Philp (source). This comes at a perfect time as Samaipata hires a new Senior Principal Arnaud Bakker to boost their UK presence.
He joins Samaipata, bringing his skills as a former investor and Principal at SpeedInvest and Investment Banker during the early days of his career at J.P. Morgan.
To date, he has led investments in Seqera Labs, Tulipshare, Daslab, Milabotaries, Sense Street and Elephant Healthcare, among others, that he continues to support on their exciting growth journeys.
The new capital and hire of Samaipata’s most recent senior investor in the UK is aimed to consolidate their pan-European presence and further deepen their roots locally within the thriving UK ecosystem. Currently Samaipata is focused on investing its €110 million second fund into digital platforms with network effects. Samaipata has today over €150 million under management.
Arnaud joins a growing UK Samaipata team, with Stephanie Chan, UK Investment Associate, previously at strategy consulting firm Mckinsey and startup Papier. He also joins Daniel Hardoon, Head of Growth, ex early employee at Stint.
Arnaud also joins a growing UK Samaipata portfolio with Geomiq, Eolas Medical, Legl and two other investments that are yet to be announced.
José Del Barrio, founding Partner, comments: “Hiring Arnaud as a Senior Principal was crucial for us to truly embed Samaipata into the UK ecosystem. It fell in line with our vision of making Samaipata truly pan-European. Arnaud has proven himself as an investor and will be instrumental in building our presence in the UK and making sure we invest in the best market opportunities.”
Samaipata aims to further invest into digital platforms with network effects from Fund II in Europe, at pre-Series A stages. They support Founders in their exciting growth journeys with the help of their VC assistance platform, The Hive.
They look to continue their excellent track record of more than 85% graduation rate to Series A, with €350 million raised after their entry from top tier VC managers from the US and Europe.
