Samsung Electronics has announced it will be sponsoring the Connected Society category at the Tech4Good Awards for the first time. The partnership forms a part of its ongoing commitment towards celebrating and supporting those inspirational individuals, organisations and NGOs that are using technology to make a difference to people’s lives and their communities.

The Connected Society Award in particular, recognises those using the most innovative technology products or services that transform people’s lives and help make the world a better place. The award is open to any individual, business, charity, social enterprise or other public body based in the UK.

“At Samsung, we have always believed in the power of technology as a force for good and celebrate pioneering advances that help us reshape the world. We are really excited to see how the latest advances in technology can help us breakthrough in solving some of our most pressing social and environmental challenges”, says Teg Dosanjh Director of Connected Living, Samsung UK & Ireland. “For the Connected Society Award, we will be looking for entries that demonstrate innovation in growing areas of technology, such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and 5G. This could be a project in its early stages that demonstrates the potential for making a big impact, or it could be an existing product or service that is now ready to take the next big step.”

Teg Dosanjh will be judging the awards alongside 19 other judges across a broad array of backgrounds including technology, not-for-profit, financial, media and education. As part of the judging process of the Connected Society category, Teg and the judges will be looking for potential winners to demonstrate ingenuity and creativity using technology in a way that is both connecting and transforming lives. Candidates will need to show how they are meeting a clearly identified need or are tackling a real problem in their community, as well as be able to show how they are delivering on clear objectives leading to positive results.

Awards are open for nominations across the UK with entries made for you or for someone you know. Nominations close for entries on Friday 10th May, with finalists announced on the 11th June. Winners will be announced at the London awards ceremony at the BT Centre in London on 17th July 2019.
